2009 Chapter Pride Patch Recipients
Barbara Dawes joined the Chapter in 2004. Started out on a Sporster and gradually moved up to a Dyna Wide Glide. She has traveled many
great places over the years, some being Washington DC, Virginia, Maine, Laconia, Wisconsin, to name just a few. She is extremely active, both on the bike and off with family,
friends, grandchildren, alike. Always has kept a passion for riding and the club as she is, passionate about life. Barbara has been a Road Captain for a few years now. Has
volunteered for many activities within the club, and continues to do so, always given it her all no matter what the task. She also served as our 2009 Sgt-at-Arms along with John
Composto. Barbara has been a great encouragement to all woman
riders in this club.
Steve Ruschak along with his wife Kim, joined the Chapter in 2003 and became involved right from the start. Once he became familiar
with the members of the Chapter, Steve stepped up and became a Road Captain. In this position, he led club members on a number of interesting and enjoyable rides over the next
several years. His involvement in the Chapter became even more intense when he accepted the position of Assistant Director in 2006. Then, as a follow-up to that, in the following
year he became the Chapter Director and held that position for the next two years. He has since gone back to simply relaxing and enjoying his friends and fellow Chapter members
during our various rides and club functions. He is usually found somewhere near the action at the Chapter picnics, assisting with setting up, cooking and cleaning up.
One of his more recent assignments, since his lovely wife has upgraded her ride, has been that of kickstand retractor.
John Composto has been with our Woodstock H.O.G. Family since 2004. Unlike most new members that join us, he didn’t just hang in the
back quietly unnoticed. No, his presence was full of life and his passion for the sport of riding as well as the Chapter was truly obvious. His big grinning smile made him always
easy to find in the sea of leather. Not long after joining he stepped up to volunteer as a Road Captain, leading the members on memorable rides – mostly because he had a knack
of picking the sunny days. Along with being a respected Road Captain he was 49% of the 2009 Sgt-at-Arms team (got to at least give that 1% more to Barbara – she has to deal with him more
than we do). He is a regular fixture at the Chapter’s events and is always willing to help out the other Road Captains with their rides however needed.
Thank you to our 2009 Pride Patch awardees for their dedication to the Chapter.
